These beautiful lamps are created by the artist Kevin Haley. Mr Haley came up with this idea about 10 years ago while living in the south of Mexico. Each one is an unique blend of a natural seashell and hand wrought copper. Most of the shells are Caribbean species provided by the local fisherman. Since the shells are produced by mother nature, every one is different in respect to color, shape, size and markings. Thus no two pieces are exactly the same. The shells are not painted, polished, varnished, dyed, buffed or burned. Every shell uses a normal clear light bulb thus the shells are illuminating with their natural colors. They do not have excessive amounts of markings caused by parasites or hurricanes. These shells are in pristine condition and still retain their original values for collectors.
All of the copper work is done by hand by the original artist, even the chain links and hooks. Each shell lamp includes about 4 feet of chain and hook. The hook can be placed in any one of the links and thus the lamp can be hung at any height. Extra chain can be provided in special circumstances. The chain links are not welded or soldered thus it is very easy to open any link and separate the chain for hard wiring.
